100% estate grown Chardonnay from 30-year-old hillside, dry-farmed vines
This wine reflects our tradition of letting the fruit and the soil characterize the wine
Barrel fermented in more than 20-year-old neutral oak, this is a special blend from our two best blocks
A restrained wine with a crisp acidity, balancing the intense Chardonnay fruit flavors
Our northeast facing hillside, dry-farmed vineyards on Spring Mountain have always produced intensely flavorful fruit. This special Premiere Napa Valley wine represents the true essence of what a Stony Hill Chardonnay can be. Barrel fermented and aged in neutral oak, we have selected a blend from our two best blocks. The result perfectly captures the pure intensity of our mountain fruit and the lean, crisp character of our classic Stony Hill style.

Winemaker, Stony Hill Vineyard
I started making wine with my grandfather in Sonoma at the age of 6.
My commercial winemaking experience began at Sterling Vineyards working for Rick Forman in 1969. In 1971 I moved to Stony Hill Vineyard to become vineyard manager, and in 1973 I also assumed the role of assistant winemaker to Fred McCrea. When Fred died in 1977, I became the winemaker and vineyard manager, a position that I still hold today.
