Description
Luna’s 2016 Sangiovese Riserva comes from the Game Farm Vineyard in Oakville. This vineyard site was chosen for its Brunello clone and shallow, rocky soils where the stressed vines produce the excellent quality Sangiovese that we pick. Fermentation was conducted over a period of three weeks, at warmer temperatures to facilitate flavor extraction and aroma development. After completing the primary alcoholic fermentation, the juice was drained and pressed and malolactic fermentation induced. The reserve blend is a selection of the best barrels from this vintage. These barrels will age longer than a traditional style for a total of 20 months in French and Hungarian oak barrels. The 2016 Napa Valley Sangiovese Riserva is bursting with blackberry aromas and accompanied by notes of cedar and vanilla as you sip. Hints of nutmeg linger on the finish. This wine pairs well with a wide variety of Italian inspired dishes.
