Description
Over the course of millennia, erosive forces have propelled andesite rocks from the sheer palisades of Jericho Canyon to the land below. The concentration of eroded alluvial material and large “galets roulés” (round rocks or pebbles), make this block un-tillable by modern machinery. The porous nature of the site allows winter and spring rains to percolate down giving us a natural water source throughout the summer growing months. As a result, the Cabernet Sauvignon vines that are planted on this small block yield fruit that give great concentration and character, with an underlying complex tannin structure. This is an unique Cabernet Sauvignon, produced from historical rootstock and matured in new French oak barrels for 19 months.

Robin Akhurst
Winemaker, Clos Pegase
Robin came to Napa Valley in 2009, working with winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown at Outpost and Schrader Cellars. He joined Envy Cellars in Calistoga as winemaker, where he made the highly regarded Envy and Carter wines since 2010.
A native of Scotland, Robin rings vast international experience from the cellars of New Zealand, France and Australia. After graduating from the University of Edinburg, he received a graduate degree in viticulture and enology from Lincoln University in Christchurch, New Zealand. In addition to two harvests in New Zealand, Robin made wine and worked harvest in Languedoc-Roussillon, at Burgundy's famed Domaine Leflaive and in Australia's Barossa Valley with Tow Hands Winery before moving to the Napa Valley to establish roots after eight consecutive harvests around the world in four years.
