Description
This rare expression of Napa Valley winemaking is one of only 120 bottles that will ever be made. Think of it as a bit of Napa Valley history in your cellar and celebrated in a glass with friends and family.
Your Premiere Napa Valley wine is from the Sweet Spot, a small 3.4-acre section of Groth’s 28-acre reserve vineyard in the heart of Oakville. Planted to Cabernet Sauvignon Clone 15, this rocky and loamy block is the original source for the Groth Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, with Groth’s signature velvet tannin structure, bright and rich fruit character, and lush oak notes from 22 months of aging in a new Vernou French oak barrel (medium toast). This is Cameron Parry’s inaugural vintage with Groth as winemaker, who worked alongside Michael Weis, director of winemaking.

Before arriving in Oakville, I spent the last ten years as Winemaker at the historic Napa Valley winery Chateau Montelena, the last four as Winemaker. My carreer path to Groth has included winemaking stints at Etude (Carneros), Vina de Larose (Cachapoal Valley, Chile), Sawyer Cellars (Rutherford), Plumpjack Winery (Oakville), Franciscan Estates (St. Helena) and Gundlach-Bundschu Winery (Sonoma).

-A joint Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and Biology.
-Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from New Mexico State University.
-fluent in Spanish.
-Served as a Board member of the Napa Valley Wine Technical Group and serves on the Enology Grants Review Committee for the American Vineyard Foundation.

Winemaking Philosophy:
The real work is in the vineyard itself, to grow the very best fruit possible, and not screw it up in the winery. If you need to find me it's best to start searching in Groth's 121 acre Oakville Estate Vineyard, or their 44 acre Hillview Vineyard in Yountville.

2014 was my 42nd harvest. Of these, 32 harvests have been in Oakville. 12 with Robert Mondavi and 21 with Groth. I also spent nine years in the late 70s/early 1980s as a "guerilla winemaker" in downtown Los Angeles at one of the country's oldest and largest wineries, San Antonio Winery.
