2023 Cabernet Sauvignon
St. Helena AVA
Auction 29 | Lot No. 5
Vintage: 2023
Corison Winery
Cabernet Sauvignon
St. Helena
5 cases produced
Highlights
- Rare blend of Kronos and Sunbasket, our estate vineyards
- 100% sunny St. Helena appellation; perfect for ripening Cabernet Sauvignon with hot days and cold nights
- Benchland alluvial soils; loam holds winter rain, gravel drains like a sieve over rainless summers
- 2023 is one of the greatest vintages, ever
Description
Kronos Vineyard is off the table when we blend the Corison Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a rare moment when it gets a chance to play with our other estate vineyard, Kronos' darker, more brooding character complementing the brightness of Sunbasket Vineyard.
Wine Facts
- Sustainably produced
- Organically produced (also commonly called "organically grown")
- Wine is 100% estate grown and bottled
Cathy Corison
Winemaker, Corison Winery
I've made wine in the Napa Valley for 40 years, first for others including Chappellet Vineyard, Staglin Family Vineyard, York Creek and Long Meadow Ranch. Eventually I found that there was a wine inside me that needed to get out and I began to make the Corison Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
Country born: United States
Education: BA Pomona College, Biology
MS University of California, Davis, Enology
Years in the wine industry: 30+ years
Honors / Awards:
San Francisco Chronicle Winemaker of the Year 2011
Winemaking Philosophy:
Great grapes make great wine. Pick ripe grapes from a terrific, balanced vineyard and let Mother Nature do the rest. My goal is to make Cabernet that is both powerful and elegant, graces the table, enjoys a long, distinguished life and speaks of place.
