Description
This nectar is crafted from the famous Beckstoffer Vineyard George III, in the Rutherford appellation. When tasted, a single barrel stood out from the rest as outstandingly better. This particular tight-grained barrel was named barrel “FX”.
For Premiere Napa Valley, we kept Lot FX separate from the rest, and blended in a small amount of Petit Verdot for an assemblage that is extremely enticing. Deep ruby in color, a fruity nose showing structure with intense, vibrant and complex aromas of red fruit, mixed with some blackberry, black spices and a hint of vanilla. Very creamy, full, rich and rounded, this wine is elegant and well designed with excellent balance and flavors lingering long on the finish. This wine should age for quite a few years.

Born and raised in France, 9th generation of a family of grapegrowers and winemakers, Co-founder and original winemaker of Clos Du Val in 1972, retired in 2009. Actively involved in the creation of Taltarni Vineyards (Victoria, Australia), Domaine de Nizas (Languedoc, France) and winemaker for Nandu (Mendoza, Argentina)

Education: Ninth generation French vintner, Engineer in Agronomy (ENSA Toulouse) and specialized in Viticulture and Enology (Sup Agro Montpellier)and then, upon graduation, set out to explore wine regions around the world.

Bernard Portet uses assemblage winemaking for Heritance as it has been become his signature style. His goal is simple: blend wines from different varieties and terroirs to create finished wines greater than the sum of their parts. It is a style that creates uniquely distinctive wines.
