Cabernet Sauvignon from our Poetry Vineyard—a steep, volcanic site—is at the core of this blend
The Cabernet Sauvignon is complemented by intensely perfumed Petit Verdot from our Twin Peaks estate
From vineyard blocks named after classic rock’s “Walk on the Wild Side” and “Dark Side of the Moon”
Deep and brooding, this classic Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon is concentrated and intense
As a tribute to his favorite music, Cliff Lede chose to name his estate vineyard blocks after classic rock hits. This year’s PNV bottling is a unique blend of our Stags Leap District fruit, headlined by Cabernet Sauvignon from the Poetry Vineyard hillside block named for Pink Floyd’s album “Dark Side of the Moon,” with an opening act of Petit Verdot from “Walk on the Wild Side.”
Carefully selected from our top lots by Winemaker Christopher Tynan, this dark, sexy Cabernet Sauvignon earns the name Wild Moon. Harvested in the dark of night, the fruit was transported to the winery in small bins and subjected to a three-tier sorting process before being delivered to tank by crane. Aging for 20 months in 100% new French oak barrels added restraint and smoothed tannins in this wine that was screaming to be released. Like a true rock star, this wine will only get better with age.
Winemaker, Cliff Lede Vineyards
Christopher spent his first summers in Napa doing cellar internships at Cain Vineyards and Blankiet Estate and doing irrigation management for vineyards all over Napa and Sonoma. In 2006, Christopher brought his tireless work ethic and commitment to excellence to Colgin Cellars. During Christopher's 5 year tenure as Assistant Winemaker, Colgin received 7 perfect 100 point ratings from renowned wine critic Robert Parker Jr. The philosophy at Colgin was low yield farming and no compromise winemaking. It was an inspiring place to work. It is that same lofty philosophy that led Christopher to Cliff Lede Vineyards in the summer of 2012.
