Winemaker, Clos du Val
With an illustrious career spanning nearly two decades, Tony Biagi has earned a reputation as one of Napa Valley's most esteemed winemakers, with a gift for working with great wine estates to make vibrant and authentic wines from extraordinary parcels of land. As the consulting winemaker at Clos Du Val, Tony works with our acclaimed 350 acres of estate vineyards, including our prized Stags Leap District Estate, which we have farmed since 1972. From this diverse palette of fruit, Tony helps to guide our winemaking program, working with our team to craft benchmark wines recognized for their elegance, balance and complexity.
Country born: United States
Education: A fourth generation Californian, Tony studied fermentation science at UC Davis, where he specialized in winemaking. In 1995, Tony joined the team at Duckhorn Vineyards as enologist, where he gained invaluable hands-on experience from legendary winemaker, Tom Rinaldi. After being promoted to assistant winemaker for Duckhorn Vineyards, Tony went on to be named the head winemaker for Paraduxx, where he focused on Napa Valley blends. In the years since, Tony has been the winemaker for a who's who of Napa Valley wineries, including Neal Family Vineyards, PlumpJack, CADE and his current role as the winemaker for Hourglass. Today, in addition to his role at Hourglass, Tony works with Clos Du Val to help guide the stylistic direction of our acclaimed portfolio, with a particular focus on our estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignons.
