Dominic De Guilio
Winemaker, Madonna Estate
My first encounter with wine was as a consumer. Following my marriage to Taylor Bartolucci, fourth generation family member and partner in Madonna Estate Winery, I became interested in learning how to produce wine. I began my winemaking tutelage harvesting grapes and spending time in the cellar. Eventually, I took on more winemaking responsibilities. Besides hands on experience, which I believe is the best, I am also an avid reader and have done some personal winemaking research. This wine is my first solo collaboration with my brother-in-law, Frank. Dolcetto is my favorite wine varietal and I am very pleased to have helped craft this special wine.

My winemaking philosophy is letting the vineyard dictate the style of the wine. You cannot make exceptional wines without high quality grapes. I believe dry farming and organic farming practices contribute to the growing of intensely flavored grapes, which will in turn will produce fine wines.
