Dave Phinney is one of the Napa Valley’s rising star winemakers. Owner and winemaker of Orin Swift Cellars, Dave’s hands-on approach to his craft have made him one of the most sought after young winemakers in the Valley.
Wine Spectator editors review more than 12, 400 newly released wines in 2005. From the pool they chose the Top 100. These are the year’s most noteworthy wines, based on four criteria: high score, large production, value pricing. Our very own winemaker of our Chateau de Vie Cabernet Sauvignon 01, and just released 02, Dave Phinney placed 38 for his Orin Swift, Prisoner 2003 Napa Valley. Congratulations Dave! Education: Three days after graduating from the University of Arizona, he moved to Napa Valley and found a temporary harvest position at the Robert Mondavi Winery. He moved from Mondavi to the barrel room at Opus One and then took on a full time cellar position at Whitehall Lane Winery.
