Description
Many say that the Rutherford appellation is the birthplace of some of the best Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa Valley. The 2016 vintage is considered another exceptional year, celebrated for small berries with concentrated flavors leading to complex and delicious wines. The fruit for this exclusive barrel of 2016 Rutherford Hill Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon was grown on our Rutherford estate vineyard and planted in rocky hillside soils which bring intensity and structure. The unique Rutherford terroir imparts its own special character on the fruit, which is known as “Rutherford dust.” The 2016 vintage boasts concentrated flavors of dark fruits with lush tannins that roll over the palate and extend in to an exceptionally long, harmonious finish.

Growing up among the vineyards of Santa Rosa in Sonoma County, I guess perhaps I was destined to find a career in winemaking. At a young age, I recall visits to the vineyards to watch my godfather, a vineyard manager, work with the vines. And like most people who grow up in wine country, wine was a typical fixture at my family's dinner table. I developed a deep appreciation for the process of taking the tender grapes from vine to the glass, generating the spark of what would become my professional calling

Education: Marisa graduated from the University of California, Davis, first with a B.S. in Chemistry and then an M.S. in Food Science-Enology.

Winemaking Philosophy:
What is in the glass should reflect what is in the vineyards. My desire is to to help the grapes express themselves in the best possible way.
