Description
The gnarled, head-trained Cabernet Sauvignon vines stand like old soldiers in the alluvial soils of the Oakville Bench. Grafted to St. George rootstock, they escaped the ravages of phylloxera. Historically the most concentrated and powerful of our vineyard blocks, these old vines—yielding less than two tons per acre—are the soul of Robert Mondavi Reserve Cabernet. The wine exhibits intense violet and blackberry fruit character, muscular Oakville tannins and an opulent, mouth-filling texture.
