Description
Growers have farmed Vine Hill Ranch since 1879, documenting their plantings of grapevines and other crops in hand-scribed reports. These “Assessment” County records inspired our Premiere Napa Valley presentation — a tribute to the agricultural history of Vine Hill Ranch.
Three generations of the Phillips family have farmed this land since 1959, culminating in the inaugural release of the VHR, Vine Hill Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon in 2011. The lot celebrates the introduction of our benchland Block 3's Petit Verdot into the VHR, Vine Hill Ranch blend. The density of fruit and deep color from this Petit Verdot, combined with singular aspects of our seven-block Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard, further define VHR, Vine Hill Ranch, as reflected in the 2011 Assessment.

Francoise Peschon
Winemaker, VHR, Vine Hill Ranch
Raised in California's wine country with family roots in Luxembourg, Francoise received an enology degree from UC Davis. After post-graduate work at the University of Bordeaux and an apprenticeship at Chateau Haut-Brion, Francoise returned to the Napa Valley.
In 1993, Francoise joined Araujo Estate, soon stepping into the role of winemaker. The reputation of the vineyard and the Phillips Family's determination to craft a wine of place drew Francoise to VHR in 2008.
