Winemaker, Levy & McClellan
After years of practicing the skills of our shared passion at other venues, we are grateful for the unique opportunity to unite our individual experiences in an independent endeavor of our own.
Robert has been the winemaker and director of winegrowing for Harlan Estate since its inception 26 years ago. In addition, with the launching and development of Bond Estates and The Napa Valley Reserve—which are ventures under the direction of the Harlan winemaking team—he continues to master and refine a repertoire of wines being produced from some of the most notable vineyard sites in the Napa Valley.
Martha worked making the wines at Harlan Estate from 1995 through the 2000 vintage. In 2001 she took over the winemaking and vineyard direction at Sloan Estate, a renowned Napa Valley winery and vineyards located in the hills of Rutherford, where she continues to make the wines today. Also under her direction is an estate property in development since 1999, Checkerboard Vineyards, which recently celebrated its premier launch with the 2007 vintage.

The exacting standards that have always guided and marked our work remain the foundation for our philosophy. As humble servants of Mother Nature and observant stewards of the land, we are passionately committed to producing wines of uncompromising quality with the purest expression of their origin. Our family-owned vineyard lies in the western foothills above Napa Valley and is entering its twelfth growing season. The densely spaced planting and meticulous viticultural care gives testament to our dedicated goal of capturing and expressing the unique essence of this special place.
