Description
ardente [ar’ dente]: From the Latin for pyre; a burning desire, passionate, flaming. This is the word that founder Carlo Di Ruocco felt best described his relationship to the land and the wine that is his “Ardente.” “Where my wine grows is a beautiful area in the quiet hills of Atlas Peak. The warm arid climate and rocky mountainous terrain combine with rich volcanic soil and a moderate microclimate to provide near perfect conditions for growing high-quality Cabernet grapes. The results are great; the zest of this special wine is reminiscent of a beautiful Bordeaux Haut-Médoc.”

The smell of wine-soaked oak wood barrels has thrilled me since my childhood in Italy. I never dreamed then, that I would one day work with such master winemakers as Philippe Melka and Derik Irwin, from whom I have learned a great deal over the past 15 years.

Q&A With the Winemaker
Q: What was your inspiration for this offering?
A: Trying to capture essence of the land, the vineyard, the fog, the sun setting over the vineyard, the cool night air and smell of earth. To share a little of this feeling in every bottle of this wine from Block 1, which I chose for its maturity of fruit and its ideal geographic position and orientation.
