Description
The best the Rutherford Bench has to offer. Just once a year, all of my Cabernet lots are on the table for blending. For the Premiere Reserve, I include the great lots that are the components for my Corison Cabernet as well as the Kronos Vineyard, my estate vineyard. Bottled as a single-vineyard estate wine, the Kronos is usually off-limits. Powerful and elegant, this wine speaks of place—the benchland between Rutherford and St. Helena in the Napa Valley.
Aging Process
Aged 2 years in small French oak barrels, 50% new. The barrels are sourced from three coopers and three different forests for a small, but significant, added complexity.

I've made wine in the Napa Valley for 40 years, first for others including Chappellet Vineyard, Staglin Family Vineyard, York Creek and Long Meadow Ranch. Eventually I found that there was a wine inside me that needed to get out and I began to make the Corison Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

Great grapes make great wine. Pick ripe grapes from a terrific, balanced vineyard and let Mother Nature do the rest. My goal is to make Cabernet that is both powerful and elegant, graces the table, enjoys a long, distinguished life and speaks of place.

Q: Premiere Napa Valley wines are innovative and allow each winery to showcase the region's sense of exploration in fine winemaking. What kind of exploration did your Premiere Napa Valley wine allow you to do?
A: To try to best express sense of place.
Q: What was your inspiration for this offering?
A: The wonderful range of flavors possible when Cabernet Sauvignon is grown up and down the benchland between Rutherford and St. Helena. This particiular set of vineyards speak to the rare combination of power and elegance possible from Napa Valley benchland.
