Description
J. Schram is Schramsberg's signature sparkling effort. Focused on the rich fruit and bright acidity of Bayview Avenue Carneros Chardonnay, this brut sparkling wine is produced from an assemblage of our finest base wine lots developed each year.
For this auction lot, we've allowed 60 bottles of the 1996 vintage to rest "en tirage" in our Diamond Mountain caves for 15 years. An extraordinary depth of flavor and aroma is the result. Disgorged specifically for the 2012 Premiere Napa Valley, this lot epitomizes our philosophy to create a wine in which no effort is spared and no care omitted.

Winemaking Philosophy:
Working closely in the vineyards with the growers throughout the growing season to ensure that the highest quality fruit is delivered to the winery. To me, winemaking success is achieved in the vineyard; using minimalist winemaking techniques, I work to express the varietal and unique characteristics of each vineyard. I believe I have succeeded when the finished wine has intriguing character that challenges and rewards the senses.
