Description
Clos Du Val has been making Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon since 1973 and was instrumental in establishing it as an AVA in 1989. Founding winemaker Bernard Portet had noticed that the district was quite significantly cooler than those farther upvalley, moderated by breezes from the San Pablo Bay. He felt that this would create elegant, balanced Cabernet Sauvignon. Today, winemaker John Clews has crafted this wine from select lots from the Stags Leap estate in the eduring Clos Du Val style emphasizing finesse, complexity, food-friendliness and ageability.
