Description
Traditionally, Canto has been a “Super Tuscan” blend at Luna Vineyards. In 2013, we combined reserve selection Sangiovese from the Game Farm Vineyard in Oakville with Cabernet Sauvignon from Howell Mountain, Merlot from Diamond Mountain, and Cabernet Franc from Coombsville.
All of our fruit was handpicked and sorted before going into the crusher, which lightly cracks the berries. They are then sorted by hand a second time, so that only the best grapes make it into the wine. We allowed a very warm fermentation, to extract the most possible flavor and texture from the grapes. All of the lots were aged separately in oak barrels for twenty months.

Traveled to work harvest abroad, always returning to Napa Valley. I have been at Luna for 9 years, previously working at Moone Tsai, Rombauer and Bealieu Vineyards in the Napa Valley.

Winemaking Philosophy:
I aim to make food friendly wines that are elegant, yet powerful and ageable. I prefer minimal intervention to allow the vineyards to show their individual characteristics.
