Description
This wine is a tribute to the indefatigable spirit of the Napa Valley. Most of this vineyard was lost to the last phylloxera outbreak. A small number of Sauvignon Blanc vines, planted on the hardy St. George root stock, survived. The owner didn't have the heart to pull these vines when he replanted the vineyard, even though they were randomly spaced throughout. Despite the low yield of these incredible vines, Elizabeth Spencer has agreed to continue to harvest them and to keep them in production. We do not blend the wine from this vineyard with any other wines. We celebrate the pride and resilience of this grower and the unique provenance and rugged nature of his vines with this single-barrel selection.

Winemaker, Elizabeth Spencer
Joined Elizabeth Spencer in 2010 as Winemaker. Previous experience at Scholium Project; Robert Sinskey Vineyards,Krupp Brothers Estates/Stagecoach Vineyards, White Rock Vineyards. We have a stellar winemaking team at Elizabeth Spencer. Spencer Graham is Director of Winemaking. He determined the original style of our wines and established the long term relationships with our grape growers. Sarah Vandendriessche is the Winemaker, overseeing all aspects of production, from managing vineyard practices through to bottling. Spencer and Sarah work together on all final blends. Robbie Meyer is our consulting winemaker.

Winemaking Philosophy:
We buy from a handful of premiere grape growers, with whom we work from vintage to vintage. Our winemaking philosophy adheres to a classical tradition. The model for all of our wines is intensity without excess weight, purity, persistence and length.
