Description
This is the first and only barrel of 2001 Vogt Howell Mountain Merlot to be produced by Nickel and Nickel. The vintage also marks the inaugural Merlot harvest from Vogt, with the grapes coming from young vines planted over the last three to four years. The Merlot plantings are found in a cooler area of this south-facing, hilly vineyard where daytime temperatures are lower than Napa or Oakville, adding to the grapes' flavor character and tannin development.
