Description
This Scattered Peaks 2018 vintage Premiere Napa Valley wine is a true blockbuster! Sourced entirely from the famed Morisoli Vineyard in the heart of the Rutherford Bench, this powerful 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon displays classic "Rutherford Dust" character of cherry, black currant and an elusive earthiness unique to Rutherford. Winemaker Joel Aiken has made Cabernet from Rutherford for more than 35 years and this wine aging in 100 percent new French oak is one of his best.

Joel hails from Fresno, raised in ag land. By the time he was 10, he had a healthy appreciation for agriculture: young Joel would load up an old wooden wagon with peaches from the family farm and hawk alongside the highway for cash. When it came time to leave for college, Joel’s mother suggested UC Davis and thank Bacchus she did! Soon after graduation, Joel was hired by Beaulieu Vineyards, the youngest winemaker in company history. Truly a Cabernet maven, Joel has worked with over 50 vineyards in the Napa Valley – this man knows his Cab!

Education: Master's degree in Enology from UC Davis. Many trips to wineries in Europe to study vineyards and wine production techniques. Andre Tchelistcheff was a great mentor for me.

Winemaking Philosophy:
I like to work with great vineyards and showcase the best qualities of the fruit without overpowering it with heavy handed winemaking. I strive to make beautifully balanced wines.
