Winemaker, Chase Cellars
High energy and passionate are some of the words people use to describe Russell, but we're not sure those adjectives do him justice. Pure artist, Russell is assiduously creative and generally over the top when it comes to just about everything having to do with making great and memorable wines. But, he's also a hell of a lot of fun. He speaks in terms of good karma in his wines, and his energy is infectious.
Having the good fortune to train under Philip Togni, Russell then took over the winemaking reins from Heidi Barrett at Showket. He has since received four perfect 100-point scores from the Wine Advocate for his own projects. He now makes wine for a small stable of iconic wineries including his own Bevan Cellars, Chateau Boswell and Chase Cellars in St Helena.

A Draconian approach to vineyard management, good energy and karma in the cellar, and total focus from vineyard to bottle is what makes the difference between good and memorable wines.
