Description
Working with an estate vineyard requires an
intimate understanding of the land. With each
harvest, our knowledge of the Meteor Vineyard
has grown exponentially, putting us in tune
with the vineyard’s unique potential. Located
on a knoll in Napa Valley’s Coombsville region,
Meteor Vineyard’s special combination of
elevation, aspect and stony, rich volcanic soil
produces some of Napa Valley’s most distinctive
Cabernet Sauvignon.
For this special Premiere Napa Valley lot we
have added a small percentage of our first
harvest of Petit Verdot to our “heritage” Clone 7
Cabernet Sauvignon planted on Saint George
rootstock. The Petit Verdot, the last block
planted in the vineyard, adds a compelling
dimension to Meteor Vineyard, simultaneously
heightening and melding with the velvety
richness of Clone 7. A unique expression from
a unique corner of Napa Valley.

My first winery job in Napa Valley was with Robert Mondavi Winery in the harvest of 1974. I spent 25 years as winemaker for Domaine Chandon, opening the winery in 1977 with the first French Champagne house to own property in the Napa Valley. I first made Cabernet with my husband Bill in 1996 from their Diamond Mountain Vineyard and took to it like water. I love discovering great vineyards and came to Meteor in 2005.
