Description
This year's wine from Miner Family Winery comes from the heart of Napa Valley, Oakville, where Cabernet Sauvignon is king. The combination of the Oakville Appellation's natural capability to produce fantastic Cabernet Sauvignon and our winemaking team's thoughtful vineyard site selection, makes for an incredibly balanced wine that not only demonstrates strength and structure but also a softer side. Our Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon shows impressive depth, richness and refinement on the palate. Generous black fruit flavors are accented by hints of dried herb, mocha and cedar against a backdrop of plush tannins, making it a quintessential Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon.
In 2013, after seventeen years as head winemaker for Miner, Gary Brookman passed the torch on to Stacy Vogel, and officially became General Manager and Director of Winemaking, leaving Stacy to take on the reigns as head Winemaker. Now having both Gary’s old world philosophy and Stacy’s fresh innovative take on winemaking, Miner is able to produce wines that encapsulate the indelible fingerprints of the terroir using new technology and flare. These two winemakers, who have combined efforts for the first and possibly only time on our 2013 Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon, are sure to make an unforgettable wine.
Stacy Vogel

In your typical "gal from North Carolina travels abroad and falls in love with wine" story, Stacy Vogel, as always, takes it to another level. After some post-graduate stints in health care and IT, she was hired on with a wine and beer distributor doing sales administration. There, she had access to wines from all over the world and was able to hone her tasting skills, and fell deeper in love.
So, obviously, she set her sights on California and a career in winemaking. After receiving her Master's Degree from the University of California at Davis wine program, she worked harvests in Burgundy and Australia before returning to the Golden State. Phew! Are you keeping up?
Since landing at Miner Family Winery in 2008, Stacy has managed to have two children and receive two promotions, the last one being named Winemaker in December of 2013.
