Description
In 1879, Lorenz Petersen, having lost all but $2,000 of his savings in the Long Depression, purchased Calarcadia (“California Paradise”), a 180-acre property in Calistoga. He planted vineyards and harvested his first crop in 1884. Each spring, wine brokers would come to meet Lorenz, sample and bid on barrels of wine. Lorenz became a respected Vineyardist.
Husband-and-wife team Dirk Fulton and Becky Kukkola purchased Calarcadia in 2000. They restored the Victorian where Lorenz and his family lived and conducted their wine auctions, then hired Mark Herold as winemaker and Jim Barbour as viticulturist. Calarcadia is now home to seven acres of Cabernet Sauvignon growing on Diamond Mountain.
Our inaugural Premiere Napa Valley lot is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, from a single barrel from the vineyard's top block.
