Description
This hillside vineyard is ¼ acre on a southeast-facing hill on the western Mayacamas range in northern St. Helena. It was thinned to ½ ton per acre and gently farmed. The grapes were handpicked at their optimum at harvest, then crushed and fermented separately as a small handcrafted lot by winemaker/owner Bill Ballentine. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon has a fruit-forward nose and is unrelenting in its complexity of layered characteristics from within the soil and nutrients from the hillside. Claire’s Hill is bottled exclusively from one of the oldest wine estates in the Napa Valley for this Premiere Napa Valley barrel lot.
