Description
In late 1991, Niebaum-Coppola Estate Winery and the University of California at Davis joined efforts to rescue the original clone of Cabernet Sauvignon that was first brought to the Niebaum Estate in 1882. This offering is a blend of 'Clone 29' from three generations of plantings: the Garden Vineyard, planted in 1965; the Gio Vineyard, planted in 1988, and the Creek Vineyard, planted in 1994. The wine is opaque with a deep purple color and has the tell-tale clonal traits of violets and black sour cherry that are the cornerstone of the Niebaum-Coppola flagship wine, Rubicon.
