Description
Smack-dab in the middle of Napa Valley's sexiest zip code, Franciscan's 240-acre vineyard in the Oakville District has produced some smashing 2002 wines. This special lot comes from Block 505, an experimental Cabernet Sauvignon block next to the house at the vineyard on Oakville Cross Road. This year, the control was superior to the experiment and produced one of the vineyard's best wines. Normal practices at our Oakville ranch include reducing irrigation to almost nothing and aggressive crop-thinning, and Winemaker Larry Levin’s "let ‘em hang" attitude paid off once again. The reward? Concentrated, intense Cabernet Sauvignon with Franciscan’s hallmark supple tannins.
