2009 Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley
B Cellars draws its inspiration from Old- World blending traditions. Our distinct multi-vineyard strategy is made possible through long-standing relationships with Napa’s most coveted properties. Winemaker Kirk Venge employed meticulous selection at harvest, painstaking hand sorting, individual vineyard lot vinification, the finest French barrels and countless hours of intuitive blending sessions, always keeping in mind how the wines would work with a variety of food. Think blackberry, warm plum with a spice box and coffee aromas, paired up with browned short ribs that are slow cooked in a blackberry/Cabernet-reduction sauce and you have the party of the season lined up.

Winemaker, B Cellars
Kirk earned his degree in Viticulture and Enology at the University of California, Davis, graduating in 1998. He worked diligently in summer internships as the experimental winemaker for Mumm Napa Valley, where he focused on producing still Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. A post-graduation harvest in New Zealand and time traveling the great wine regions of Europe would prove him ready to take on making the Venge Family Reserve wines in 2003.

Winemaking Philosophy:
“The vineyards are key,” says Kirk, who’s worked with multiple vineyards in every appellation of Napa and Sonoma counties. “If the quality’s not there, I’m not going to touch it. For B Cellars, we harvested from 19 different vineyards—vineyards including To Kalon Vineyard, Dr. Crane, Hudson, and Caldwell vineyards as well as small, home-grown plots such as Auger in St. Helena.
