Description
For this inaugural release for Premiere Napa Valley, winemaker Philippe Melka created an extraordinary barrel of Cabernet Sauvignon on behalf of Mike Moone and MaryAnn Tsai. The fruit for this remarkable blend came from the famed Caldwell Vineyards, where some of the best Cabernet fruit has been farmed for decades. Sitting atop an expansive panoramic hillside at 500 feet, the sloping vineyard is planted in shallow rocky soil laced with volcanic ash, making this an ideal place for growing high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon. This powerful yet elegant barrel truly represents the vineyard's purest expression of fruit.

A: I chose to make this wine from this particular vineyard/blocks because Our fruit is sourced from the fabled Caldwell Vineyards (blocks 11 and 13; clones 337 and 7). Lying atop an expansive panoramic hillside at 500 feet above sea level, some of Napa Valley’s most legendary cabernets have been farmed here for decades.

A: This elegant Cabernet Sauvignon presents seductive aromas of blackberry, black cherry, and spice. Complex, and well-structured, the wine features intense black fruit on the palate, as highly supple tannins introduce rich flavors of chocolate, tobacco, anise and spice through to a long finish characterized by muscle, finesse, and concentration.
