Organic
2008 Cabernet Sauvignon
Atlas Peak
After three long years of sustainable farming at the Ardente Estate, finally, our first production of organic wine is here. The 2008 growing season was particularly challenging for our vines, with each producing less fruit and smaller berries, but which made for some exceptional grapes. The concentrated, well-ripened berries resulted in a dense red wine, with soft, mellow tannins and a complex flavor of cassis, black currant and hints of oak.
Two full years in new French oak barrels and a minimum of three years in the bottle.

Winemaker, Ardente Winery
The smell of wine-soaked oak wood barrels has thrilled me since my childhood in Italy. I never dreamed then, that I would one day work with such master winemakers as Philippe Melka and Derik Irwin, from whom I have learned a great deal over the past 15 years.

Q: Premiere Napa Valley wines are innovative and allow each winery to showcase the region's sense of exploration in fine winemaking. What kind of exploration did your Premiere Napa Valley wine allow you to do?
A: Our wine typically ages a total of 5 years, but for this wine the challenge was maintaining the same smooth, flavorful blend with less aging. So I used all new French oak barrels and used a higher percent of Merlot to produce a more intense flavor development and smoother taste.
Q: What was your inspiration for this offering?
A: I wanted to simply let the terrior be expressed by the wine and make a simple blend that exhibits the natural quality of the soil and the maturity of the vineyard.
Q: Fill in the blanks: I chose to make this wine from this particular ______________ because ______________.
A: I chose to make this wine from this particular block because Because these are older more mature vines that offer milder tones to produce a full rich flavor with out overwhelming the palate.
Q: Why should a wine lover have a bottle of this wine in their cellar?
A: Because this wine is ready at anytime. It has been well aged before it's release and will maintain its ripe full flavor for years to come.
Q: Any quote, poem, lyric you feel represents this wine?
A: "Bronze is the mirror of the form; Wine, of the heart." Aeschylus (525-456 BC)
