Description
High above beautiful Napa Valley on Pritchard Hill lies Gandona Estate; 12 blocks carved into the steep terrain, each possessing a distinct personality and entirely unique expression of their place. A passion for the land is made evident by the consideration and attention to every detail on the estate. The vineyard is undergoing a "rebirth" of farming with fourth-generation grapegrower and winemaker Graeme MacDonald. This barrel represents his first vintage and favorite barrel that displays all the hallmarks of Gandona. Gandona, as my grandfather was known in Portugal, translates loosely to “humble man."

Graeme MacDonald is a fourth generation wine-grower who stewards vines planted by his grandparents and great-grandparents within the historic To-Kalon Vineyard. For 50 years, his family supplied grapes, based on a handshake, to Robert “Bob” Mondavi, who referred to them as "the best grape-growers in the Napa Valley." Bob encouraged Graeme to attend the University of California at Davis where he studied Viticulture and Enology prior to founding MACDONALD.
