Description
As we prepared our vineyard for planting in 1993, the tractor uncovered layer upon layer of rocks—volcanic gravel mixed with cobble, over large red rocks that seem to go to the center of the earth. As the tractor pushed the rocks to the side day after day, we concluded it would be appropriate to incorporate as Dyer Straits Wine Company LLC.
This single-barrel selection infuses a unique focus on the rocks that define our site, 2.3 acres planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot on a small bench overlooking the creek that drains Diamond Mountain. An ancient rockslide appears to have settled here before we did. While it is a challenging site, we think it rocks!
