Description
George Hendry has been a grape grower almost all of his life. As children, he and his brother picked the grapes from a gnarled, head-pruned vineyard into wooden boxes to be taken to the monastery for pressing. In 1974, George planted the Hendry ranch with his own vines. Block 8 Cabernet Sauvignon, which for many years was part of the famous Opus One bottling, was among those first plantings. The 32-year-old vines, now twisted and thick, yield grapes that produce an intense and elegant Cabernet Sauvignon. When we elected to participate in our first Premiere Napa Valley in 2006, Block 8 came immediately to mind. We are happy to be able to offer it this year as well.
