Description
Beatty Ranch sits at 1,800 feet in elevation on Howell Mountain. Purchased by Mike Beatty 25 years ago, it has 90-year-old Zinfandel vines—the oldest on Howell Mountain.
In spite of the threat of frost damage, 2001 gave us an early, warm spring that developed into a summer with relatively even temperatures. It was an early harvest for Howell Mountain Vineyards, and the fruit was stellar in quality. The wine has a floral nose that hints of blackberry and blueberry. The mouthfeel is exceptional—creamy, round and supple—with a nice structure to surround the fruit. This is a wine that shows its fruit well in its youth, and will age and develop more complexity over time.
