Description
Ink-like layered fruit. Cornerstone of our paramount red wine. We were dying to try a little of this by itself - so we did. Just above the valley in St. Helena, these vines occupy a swale of stony loam soils. The site rises steeply into fir forest. Wild pigs and turkeys compete for the fruit. The variation of soils, clones and exposure create three ripening zones, each managed for different flavors. We love the eccentricity. A challenging site that rewards patience and delivers blockbuster.
