Description

The 2022 vintage presented Maxville with a challenging growing season with late frosts, limited rain in the wet season and high temperatures during harvest. Most areas saw dramatic losses in yields and the same can be said for Maxville. However, we saw this as a glass-half-full opportunity. By Mother Nature's grace we were able to consolidate picks from our three oldest Cabernet Blocks into one pick alongside our prized Malbec and made the daring decision to co-ferment them together. The result speaks for itself with this black velvet-textured wine accompanied by bright red and blue fruits balanced by the nuances of our hand-selected 100% new French oak barrel. This occurrence has revolutionized the way Maxville approaches our estate, and as we move into the future, this limited allocation may become the centerpiece for vintages moving forward as we continue to strive for wines worthy of Dionysus.
