Vine Cliff Winery
10 cases produced
- Fruit is sourced from the southwest-facing hillside vineyard, allowing optimum sun exposure during ripening
- Farmed completely by hand due to the nature of the steeply-terraced, 25-year-old vines
- All fruit is cluster- and then berry-sorted to ensure absolute highest quality wine as a result
This wine, from one of California’s oldest “ghost wineries,” is a real gem. Vine Cliff Winery is pleased to offer this truly unique bottling from our premium hillside vineyard from the highly desirable Oakville nested appellation. The grapes are meticulously hand-sorted, ensuring that only perfect berries make it into the tank for fermentation. The result is a 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon with deep concentration, pure focused fruit and an incredibly long finish with plush, fine-grained tannins. This Premiere Napa Valley wine is aging for 18 months in 80 percent French oak for structure while still allowing the fruit components to shine. With an aging potential of at least 20 years, “Jewel” will make an exceptional addition to your cellar.
Winemaker, Vine Cliff Winery
Rich grew up in Lakin, a very small town in the southwestern corner of Kansas. After graduating from Kansas State University, he moved to California in 2001. That summer he worked a Harvest at Kent Rasmussen Winery and was immediately bitten by the wine bug. After that harvest , he moved to San Francisco and worked for some high end restaurants and wine bars to learn more about the wine world in general. It wasn’t long before he found himself back working in wineries.
