Dutch Henry Winery
5 cases produced
For thirty years my family has farmed grapes in the Napa Valley and for the last six I have always lost one, two or three of my Airedale Terriers while walking our St. Helena vineyard. They always come back, sometimes within minutes, sometimes hours. But with tongues hanging and sporting unique aromas. In the winter, muddy. In the summer, covered in burrs. But never with the jack rabbit they were hell-bent on catching. This jailbreak occurs in a particular block of our Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard that is planted to Clones See and 337, and which serves as the backbone for our heavier Cabernets.
For this Premiere Napa Valley offering, we chose feature this vineyard block on its own, and named it Lost Dog, in honor of the unexpected "chase" and where it can sometimes lead you.
- Single vineyard wine
- Organically produced (also commonly called "organically grown")
- Wine is 100% estate grown and bottled
Winemaker, Dutch Henry Winery
I began my winemaking career taking care of my family's vineyard in Calistoga. At the time, we sold our fruit to the co-op which is now Hall Winery. After graduating from college, I spent a year studying/working in France. Upon returning, I worked for Vincent Arroyo Winery (Calistoga) in both the vineyards and cellar. In 1991, my family started Dutch Henry Winery, where I serve as the winemaker.
