Sullivan Rutherford Estate's Couer de Vigne is a classic red blend from our estate vineyards and is well-regarded for its Old World style of elegant savory notes with undertones of minerality and distinct complexity. This particular lot for Premiere Napa Valley is one component of the typical blend - with the winemaker's favorite barrel of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. A special wine that is truly rare.

Winemaker, Sullivan Rutherford Estate
Since 2013, winemaker Jeff Cole has brought his strong foundation of experience and an intimate understanding of the estate in making world-class wines to Sullivan Rutherford Estate. In 2018, under new ownership, Jeff was given the resources to take Sullivan to another level, engaging viticulturist Mike Wolf and adding new A +++ vineyard properties to the winery’s portfolio. Throughout the last decade, Cole has developed his own distinct creative process and style at Sullivan. The estate model has provided total control over the entire process, from planting to farming to production. This has lent an incredible sense of creative freedom, where he has gotten to experiment and, in recent years, make wines with a consistency that continues to push the boundaries of Sullivan’s rigorous commitment to exceptional Bordeaux varieties.
Last fall, the team broke ground on a new state-of-the-art winery. Thanks to Jeff and the rest of the winery’s team, the relatively unknown winery in the middle of Rutherford just a few years ago has quickly established itself as one of the valley’s most exciting.
Jeff grew up in Yountville and received his degree in wine and viticulture from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo. Prior to joining Sullivan he was assistant winemaker at Schramsberg and J. Davies wineries.
