Description
Seavey is pleased to offer a handcrafted estate wine of superb intensity and richness, blended from our three top barrels of 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep and powerful, this graceful wine exudes the impressive depth, harmony and concentrated flavors for which Seavey is known. The grapes for this wine were sourced from our historic south-facing, terraced blocks, home to our oldest vines. Our hillsides were first planted to grapes over 150 years ago by three industrious French and Swiss-German families who together established the Franco-Swiss Wine Cellars, one of Napa’s largest pre-Prohibition wineries. In 1882, the St. Helena Star reported: “The (Franco-Swiss) vineyards are models of good care and excellent cultivation. They removed great rocks, and find beneath some of the finest vineyard land in the world. The quality of grapes is evidenced by the wines now in the cellar, one of which we have rarely seen equaled.” Brimming with integrated tannins and outstanding color, this is a collector’s wine destined to age gracefully for decades. This wine is a tribute to the pioneering 19th century families that made Seavey possible, and we are honored to continue farming these terraced hillsides and making wine in classic “Old Napa Valley” style.
