Description
Silver Stallion Cask One, Winemaker’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 Oakville, The Gabrielle Collection: 2007 marks Gabrielle's inaugural release of Silver Stallion, a voluptuous, concentrated, but elegant expression of terroir of the gently slopping Oakview Vineyard in Oakville. This vineyard produces extremely small berries--only 1 gram-- providing intense wild blackberry and huckleberry flavors. Silver Stallion Cask One is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, with 5% Malbec from the Page Nord Green Island Vineyard to add a distinctive spice and black pepper and 5% Syrah from the Sarco Vineyard to intensive the mid-palate with juicy red berry flavors. Winemaker Philippe Langner concentrated the flavors by bleeding the juice during fermentation by 30%, making this a real blockbuster. The wine aged on its lees for 14 months and was never racked, contributing to the wine’s beautiful structure and refined tannins.
