Description
Summers Estate's PNV 2010 lot features five cases of perfectly rounded Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. In creating the blend for this lot, winemaker Ignacio Blancas chose wine produced from the very best Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown in the Villa Andriana vineyard—named in honor of Jim & Beth Summers' daughter—and blended it with wine produced from the best lot of select Diamond Mountain vineyards. Barrel aged in new French oak, the combination of softness on the palate associated with wine from the northern Calistoga valley floor and the rich tannins of fruit from high atop Diamond Mountain results in a wine of superb intensity, texture and balance that is enjoyable now or worth cellaring for 10 to 15 years.

My on-the-job training started 16 years ago at Summers Winery. I have worked in the vineyard and cellar, under the direction of a UC Davis grad, and have completed my Certificate in Viticulture and Enology with Napa Valley College. My title for the last four years with Summers has been winemaker and vineyard manager.
