Description
Near the center of our 365-acre ranch in Carneros exists a steep hill formed by an upturned stream bed. Looking back at the end of the day's plowing, the previous tenant found numerous large white rocks turned-up and dubbed the site "Graveyard Hill."
Block C5 is at the top of the hill, where the stony soils are atypical of Carneros: well-drained cobblestones mixed with obsidian and sandy/clay loam. We tempted fate and planted Cabernet Sauvignon in 1992 and couldn't be more pleased with the results.
