Description

Founded in 2007, Mt. Brave is a tribute to the pioneering spirit of those who settled the rugged terrain of Mt. Veeder during the 1800s and homage to the native Wappos, “the brave ones,” who were the original inhabitants of this extraordinary place. For over 150 years determined winegrowers have auspiciously farmed this mountain landscape while others shied away from conditions thought too severe, too extreme, and too lacking in promise. The Mt. Brave vineyard is famous for its rugged terrain and steep slopes, where extreme conditions require that all work in the vineyard be done by hand. High above the fog, the vineyard sits at between 1,400-1,800 feet, where nutrient poor, thin soils barely hold water, forcing the vines to develop deep roots resulting in tiny berries with intense flavor. While Mt. Veeder is cooler because of its elevation, it’s the first to see the early morning sun. This extended sun exposure helps develop flavor and ripen tannins. Mt. Brave Cabernet presents notes of roasted espresso, blueberry, anise, and violets with a cleansing minerality, expansive mouth feel, and great balance.
