Description

Benessere is the Italian word for “well being” or “living the good life” and the name reflects our dedication to producing fine Italian varietals and our penchant for providing warm, casual hospitality. We’ve been showcasing Napa Valley-grown, Italian varietals since 1996 – including the Algianico that is featured in this distinctive Cabernet-based blend. Sourced completely from the St. Helena Appellation, our Premiere Napa Valley wine lot is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon from our estate vineyard and Aglianico from the only Napa Valley planting of that variety – the neighboring Collins Vineyard. This is the only Premier Napa Valley lot featuring Aglianico - a rare varietal grown primarily in the Basilicata and Campania regions of Italy. Our Cabernet Sauvignon is grown on clone 337, providing power and grace, and clone 6, a sparsely yielding clone that adds tannin and color intensity. The Aglianico enhances the aromatic complexity with notes of huckleberry, blueberry and sandalwood, and refines the tannin profile. 18 months in new French oak served to heighten notes of blackberry, cassis, cedar & mocha. The resulting wine embodies the Benessere philosophy of blending Napa Valley and Italian wine making traditions and techniques to produce a truly unique tasting experience. Salutè!

Winemaking Philosophy:
Making wine is a joy. I was slow to choose a career path because my interests are so diverse. Winemaking allows me to synthesize botany, ecology, fermentation, nature, and art. What could be better?
