Merlot
Coombsville

5 cases produced

Highlights

  • This vineyard is planted with a unique clonal selection propagated by Michael Black
  • The small berries and clusters produce highly aromatic and very structured fruit
  • The limiting soils of volcanic rock normally yield a precious 1¼ tons per acre

Michael Black is one of the preeminent viticulturists in Northern California, having planted some of the regions most famous vineyards. His love affair with Merlot started in the 1970's and he soon began collecting "wood" from Merlot vineyards that he admired. He eventually propagated a unique clonal selection that he used to plant a vineyard in 1987 on the hillside where he lives. COHO is honored to be the winery that produces this highly aromatic, flavorful, and structured Merlot.
