Description

Once again, winemaker Chris Phelps has collaborated with consulting winemaker Guillaume Thienpont from Vieux Château Certan in Pomerol, on the Right Bank of the Bordeaux region. Guillaume’s breadth of experience, from Châteaux Margaux (Médoc) to Domaine Jean Grivot (Vosne-Romanée), to Ornellaia and Le Macchiole (Tuscany) brought additional open-mindedness and perspective to Chris’ own background (Dominus, Caymus, Pétrus) to create this unique 10-case lot. The wine is 100% pure Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Clone 337 from the rocky, southeast slope of Blossom Creek Vineyard in Calistoga, 50% from the gravelly-clay loam of Sleeping Lady Vineyard in Yountville. The bottom line: two accomplished winemakers, the two best Swanson Cabernet lots from a very solid Napa Valley red wine vintage, ONLY 10 cases produced.
