Description

A surprise gift! There is a tiny block of Cabernet Sauvignon growing on the crown of a western hill, high above the main block of Campbell Vineyard in Rutherford, Napa Valley. For years the Campbell family had used it for their own exploration of Cabernet, until 2016 when, out of the blue, we were told, “it’s yours!” With great anticipation, we kept the tiny lot separate and especially cared for. The scant half-ton was fermented in T-bins, punched down by hand and pressed in a small wooden basket press, filling only a single French oak barrel. It was indisputable that this remarkable wine not be lost to blending, and when the opportunity arose to offer it as a Premier Napa Valley lot, we jumped at the chance.
